Graduation…a time of celebration, accomplishment and a sense that the future is full of possibilities.
One year after graduation…for many of us new graduates, the shine has faded from our hopes. How can we turn our interests and passions into a real paying job? How do we get the requisite experience for the job we want, when those related jobs also require years of experience? As the months pass, we settle into the security of the job we found. It pays the bills.
Then the dreams resurface. Is it possible for me to still be a veterinarian someday? Is it worth it to go into even more debt to pursue my passion for entymology? Or the directionless, “I want to do something meaningful/something I’ll enjoy but I’m not sure what that would be.”
I am in the latter category. Lately I have realized that, even if I’m just doing a job that pays the bills, I want to keep my creativity alive. I want to keep making the effort to learn, to grow, to laugh, and enjoy my life. I hope this blog will be a spoon with which to scoop up these things that I’ve been missing. To provide nourishment to my soul.
