Reawakening the Imagination

One day, when I was poking about on the internet, I came across the following pictures of a kid’s unique bedroom, with a pirate ship built right in, and the kid in me woke right up and said, “I WANT THAT!”

As a kid, I’d always wanted to have a treehouse.  Or simply a slide, to get from my room on the second floor to the ground.  It’d be like sledding, but all year round and no snow!  As a kid, I had so many ideas for what would make the world a more wonderful place.  There was one year where I almost believed that if I wished hard enough, I would be able to fly on a broom like Harry Potter.  In my dreams it was true more than once!  I wanted to be a cat for a day, wake up in the morning and instead of going to school, take a nap in a sunbeam.

What were some of your dreams as a kid?   Would you want the pirate ship bedroom?

  1. Hannah and I dreamed of building an AWESOME playhouse, one that would fit us as we outgrew the old playhouse. Hannah even drew plans for it and everything! We were going to have a fireplace INSIDE and LOCKING DOORS (innovation, let me tell you)

I also dreamed of opening the old bowling alley west of town. Not matter how many times Mom and Dad told me that the lanes were gone, I still thought it was a great idea. Still do actually, even though I understand I need to win the lottery first... need to win the lottery to o a lot of things... :)

As a kid though, I always wanted a canopy bed, only with room on top of the canopy to have all my books stored there with cushions and such for a perfect reading spot. Plus, my bed would have drapes so I could hide in my own little space every night when I went to sleep.

  2. When I was in college, I knew a girl who had a double room to herself, and she had put both beds at their highest setting and pushed up together, so it was like a giant bed in the air!

Do you or Hannah still has the plans for your playhouse? What fun!
